Inclusion follows an assessment of the journal's editorial processes, peer review, open-access model, licensing, transparency, and publishing policies.

For The Journal of Practice Theory, acceptance into DOAJ represents an important milestone in the journal's continued development. Having published its first articles only in 2025, the journal is committed to establishing a high-quality, independent, community-led publishing model that is completely free for both authors and readers.
