Copyright and Licensing
1. Intellectual Property
The Journal of Practice Theory respects the intellectual property rights of authors and operates under an Open Access model to ensure the free dissemination of knowledge. As such, authors retain full copyright of their work, and all content is published under a Creative Commons license. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others and must acquire all necessary permissions for the use of third-party materials, including extended quotations, illustrations, tables, and images.
Authors are required to confirm that their submission is original, has not been previously published, and is not and will not be under consideration by another journal while it is under consideration by the Journal of Practice Theory. Submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Practice Theory implies that all authors have agreed to these conditions.
2. Copyright
All copyright remains with the author(s). The Journal of Practice Theory does not assume any rights over the intellectual property of its contributors. By submitting an article to the journal, authors grant us the right of first publication. Authors are encouraged to freely disseminate their work and may deposit any version of their manuscript in institutional repositories, on personal websites, or on academic networks, provided they include a citation to the original source published in the journal.
Authors are required to complete a publishing agreement prior to final publication, certifying that no other publishers hold copyright claims over the manuscript that would prevent publication in the Journal of Practice Theory.
3. Licensing
All articles published in the Journal of Practice Theory are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This means that readers and users are free to download, share, and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided the original author and source are properly acknowledged.
Authors are permitted to enter into additional non-exclusive agreements for the distribution of the published version of the article (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or include it in a book), with the condition that the original publication in the Journal of Practice Theory is acknowledged.
4. Image Copyright and Licensing
Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights to use and reproduce any images, graphics, or figures in their manuscripts. The Journal of Practice Theory requires authors to obtain permission from copyright holders where necessary and to credit all sources appropriately.
Images included in the publication must be licensed under terms consistent with the journal’s licensing policy, which typically means either the author owns the copyright, or the images are made available under a Creative Commons license. Authors must ensure that these licenses permit reproduction and distribution under the terms of the journal's CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
